Dude we get this even without the rank emote, emoted. I remember against top +10 guild while fighting, I won't lie we were losing at the flag stand was 5 vs 8, them. When all but a monk was up, the warrior simply danced, than attacking the monk. Can't help it, emotes work everywhere.

Nevertheless, I doubt that something like that might implemented. As it is a similar case than using the general chat to insult or any other way of emotional manipulation attempt, or to try to distract from fight; and general chat is not goin to be censured, I think. Think you can toggle it, anyway, but you can not toggle emotes.

Some people have brought up some good points that have convinced me that the rank emote should be allowed even during battle for the players that want to see it. However, does turning off the emotes checkbox prevent someone else's visual emote from being displayed to you? If not, then this is the way I would like it to function. Also, I am not using "first person" view as somebody else suggested. My camera is zoomed out as far as possible.

Jealousy on the lack of emote really has nothing to do with it, because I have only started to participate in Heroes Ascent recently and still spend most of my game time either in GvG or Team Arenas. If it is true that it stops them from attacking for a couple of seconds, then this is a good enough penalty for using it mid-battle. I have also had other cases where the match is already lost and I am the last one left alive and these emotes get flashed in my face. I do not lose often when I am playing monk with my guildmates in TA, but when it does happen I strongly dislike having the emote shoved in my face. Players of this mentality (the Mike Madasow types of Guild Wars) are often the same ones who love to trash talk which is going to cause me to disable local and trade chat. I prefer not to have to disable these channels, because my guild uses them for very useful purposes such as:
- offering our battle cries of "Moo!!" or "Got Milk?" before a match. If your guild doesn't have a battle cry, then try one out as it builds great unity.
- stating good luck and have fun before a match
- stating "gg" after a match
- offering the opposing teams tips after a match. For instance, we faced a Korean group in TA and noticed throughout the match that they cast faintheartedness on everyone in my group except the warrior (basically just our mesmer, ele, and monk). A guildmate of mine speaks Korean and has a Korean keyboard. He offered advice on this skill to them and we learned that several of the skill descriptions are translated poorly into Korean (such as Shields Up describing only affecting those that have a shield which is just wrong). Ironically, we immediately faced the same group of Koreans the next match and they used the skill correctly and it made for a much better match even though we still won.
Can anyone provide a definitive answer as to whether or not disabling the emote channel will disable the graphic of other people's emotes?

I have no rank yet(not even Bambi), but would love to show it off if I worked that hard to achieve the rank.

I'm just trying to figure out how it will screw you up if your camera is zoomed out.

It does not. I have backpeddled on my position (per sequence 23), because of the arguments posted by others -- sequence 14 had the most compelling one. The real reason I do not want to be forced to see other people's emotes is described in paragraph 1 of sequence 26.

trash talking is a perfectly viable method of gaining a slight psychological advantage. it's done in almost every sport. learn to deal with it, or better, learn how to utilize it to your advantage.

Blah blah blah...something tells me you made all this up. If you want to avoid having a rank 9 emote on your screen, zoom out and get over it.
